Motherhood is an amazing part of life. To give birth and watch and guide these little beings grow and learn brings endlessly special moments. There is no doubt every person who experiences Motherhood knows the special and amazing moments this experience can bring. Yet motherhood can also be the toughest most challenging, life changing experience. It is tough, it is emotional in every way, it is tiring, it is draining, it is relentless, it is groundhog day, it is boredom, it is overwhelming, it is an assault course, where you feel you should be endlessly selfless and smile through every moment. It brings judgement and opinions and conflicting advice and confusion and help that may not be helpful, and doubt and indecision. It brings wanting a glass a wine at lunchtime, hiding in the bathroom, or never peeing alone, counting the seconds until your partner is home, recoiling at the idea of soft play, trying to remember a thousand play dates and birthday parties, and baby names and appointments, and clubs and making every day a "fun learning " experience. It's never feeling you are quite doing anything well. All the while you are trying your best to love with all your heart & help these amazing little being grow and flourish and have every opportunity. It is important to know that you can love and wish you were anywhere else in the same breath, that you can love and still feel overwhelmed, you can be an amazing parent even if you don't want to play peppa pig games over and over and over and over..., and that if the sense of struggle, or sadness becomes despair, or numbness or detachment all consuming, that it's ok to get help, support, care- and even, & especially, before then. It is ok to try, to do your best, to not always be ok, to share, to take a break, to take care of yourself, to accept help. Motherhood is amazingly wonderful and terrifying in one breath. And you are doing your best and that is amazing. .
