There are these moments in motherhood that seem perfectly suited to being those "teachable moments" we're supposed to be weaving into each day. These moments meant to help shape character in our little people. And yet, as I bent to confront the much-too-quiet sugar snatcher under the dining room table, stern mother face melted into an unstoppable grin. My naughty three-year-old grinned back and informed me, quite unabashed, "I'm eating sugar, mommy!" We had a good laugh, talked about how yummy sugar is and how we need to save it for the right time, then put the sugar bowl away. And I realized that sometimes those teachable moments are meant for shaping MY character, for infusing my spirit with sweet joy, and for the reminder that some of the best lessons are taught with a grin and a laugh.
