WHITE PRIVILEGE: Unpacking The Knapsack
I wanted to help bridge the gap in social understanding and increase our collective empathetic intelligence by recommending an article to, more directly, those who identify with being "white," but also for us people of color.
I'd never tell anyone not to defend themselves or protect their lives, but I wanted to present another solution to help de-escalation and increase understanding.
I believe that by understanding pieces like this it will help bring understanding to those who may be ignorant of this information so I'd like to encourage us all to research, be patient, listen and plant seeds. Real change isn't over night and relearning truth in a lie driven world is a challenge. Especially after a lifetime of being indoctrinated with lies, false flags, cover-ups, manipulation and "us vs. them" mentality. So give an ignorant person a moment to understand, a conversation to digest information that may be new to them. For we're all ignorant so one day, you'll need patience, understanding and a conversation too. "As a white person, I realized I had been taught about racism as something that puts others at a disadvantage, but had been taught not to see one of its corollary aspects, white privilege, which puts me at an advantage. I decided to try to work on myself at least by identifying some of the daily effects of white privilege in my life." ~Peggy McIntosh (White Privilege: Unpacking The Knapsack LINK IN BIO)
1. When I am told about our national heritage or about “civilization,” I am shown that people of my color made it what it is.
2. I can turn on the television and see people of my race widely represented.
3. I can criticize our government and talk about how much I fear its policies and behavior without being seen as a cultural outsider.
