Make a better acai bowl with this recipe! 🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹
Store bought acai bowls are full of sugar! I looked up an acaii bowl from a popular New York cold press juice bar and its 527 calories, 92g carbs, and 56g of sugar! That's the equivalent of 14 teaspoons of sugar or the same amount of carbs as in 6 slices of bread! And they use added sugars it's not just naturally from the fruit!
This version has all the health benefits of acai with a fraction of calories, carbs, and sugar but still packs 14g of fiber! The chia pudding provides 5g of omega 3s which are essential for anti-inflammation and overall health 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
To make ➡️➡️➡️➡️
1 pack unsweetened sambazon acai
Couple of ice cubes
1/4 cup unsweetened plant milk (I used coconut milk)
1 heaping teaspoon of almond butter (you can use powdered peanut butter as well)
Optional: 1 teaspoon honey/agave or stevia drops
2 tbsp chia seeds
1/2 cup unsweetened plant milk (I used coconut)
Optional: 1 teaspoon honey or stevia drops . 🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹
Layer the smoothie and chia pudding and add your favorite toppings. I sprinkled it with a teaspoon of cocoa nibs which add crunch, texture, fiber, and healthy polyphenols without all the added sugar of traditional chocolate. I also added 7 frozen blueberries which also add texture. And hanging on the cup is @deliciouslyella energy ball but I ended up keeping it for later because I was so full. . 🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹
If you think this version isn't sweet enough give yourself time to get used to it by using less and less added sugars every week. That's what I did, and now when I have a store bought acai bowl I think they are way too sweet.
