Keep telling me there's no suc

Keep telling me there's no such thing as white privilege. Dude gets an athletic scholarship for something other than football. Where are the scholarships for blacks for being good people and teammates? This #StockholmSyndrome we have developed for our oppressor has blinded us from the obvious inequities. They keep telling us we're lazy and that no one gets anything for nothing then turn around and do some crazy thing like that. We must not be speaking the same language, that must be why we do not understand what is really going on. When we will realize that when they gave us integration all they gave was integration. Furthermore, I contend that through integration is where we develop this Stockholm Syndrome where we believe despite all that they've done to us and still do, that we can all be friends. I make no friends with my captors, my rapists, my murderer, no one that steals from me, and destroys my community. Well over 40 years ago they learned about this Stockholm Syndrome in Sweden and yet we don't think, despite all the other tests and information available, they would attempt to use this phenomenon against us. The timing is just too perfect. #Alkebulan #BlackHistory #Oppression #Amerikkka #Politics #racism

It was an awe-inspiring moment

It was an awe-inspiring moment when I finally saw this world-famous 16th century brass sculpture of Idia, Queen mother of the ancient Kingdom of Benin! This was one of the priceless pieces of art looted from the King’s palace by British troops in 1897. It’s a pity that I had to part with a few Euros to see it in a European museum. #blackhistorydidntstartwithslavery #africanqueen #benin #blackhistory #oba #beninkingdom #beninart #nigeria #africanhistory #iknowmyhistory #traveleducation #travelgram #instatravel #berlin #museum #beyondcompare #ancestors #blacktravel #blacktravelmovement #travelnoire #wanderlust #wanderer #discover #historytravel

The first time

~what is love The first time I saw your true beauty with no make up. When I noticed you blossomed with 20 pounds after marriage. When I rub the stretch marks on your butt after you birth our first child. When I kiss you through your mourning breath. When I have the desire to put my arm around you after your nagging. When the food is not good and I smile and eat. When I notice my self becoming a greater man. When all of your flaws show and I want you more. When every time is like the first time. When I touch you. When I smell you. When you wake daily. When you sleep. When you smile. Being completely amazed by you, through the ups and downs. Knowing there is a chance I can spend the rest of my life with you.

#BlackGirlMagic! ✨ A senior

#BlackGirlMagic! ✨ A senior in high school in 1967, Lillian Faucette only had one school she planned on attending. It was N.C. A&T (#NCAT). “If A&T hadn’t accepted me I would have been devastated, because that’s where I wanted to go.” And she did go. She began her freshman year in August, 1967, a nursing student. Her life took off from there. Marriage her sophomore year, beginning a family her junior year. My husband was in the military. My junior year he went to Vietnam. I finished my junior year, but that summer I moved with him to live on base. It was my goal to come back and finish, but during that time we started our family and I never did come back. Having raised two children and encouraging them to finish things they start it was heavily on my heart that I didn’t do what I stressed so much for them to do. I’ll admit I was a little bit jealous. My husband has a degree hanging on the wall and we’ve been married for 48 years. We have two sons. My oldest son has two degrees hanging on his wall. My youngest son is an #NCAT graduate and he has two degrees hanging on his wall. I was the only one that didn’t. I have grandchildren and I want them to see that education is important and if you start something, you need to finish it. Through the Aggies at the Goal line program, Lillian just received a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with a concentration in African American studies. #ForTheCulture #BlackCulture #ADifferentWorld #BlackIsBeautiful #MelaninIsMagic #TheBlackMind #BlackHistory #HBCU 👩🏾📚🌍🎓🍫👑✨😍💯🔥👏🏾👑💛💙

#BlkNz365 - We celebrate our history 365 days a year (plus some) . We acknowledge musician John Burke "Dizzy" Gillespie. Born in Cheraw, SC in 1917, he learned to play the trumpet as a kid and started playing professionally while in his teens. In 1953 someone fell on his trumpet, bending it upward. Dizzy noticed he could hear the sound better. From then on his trademarks were tilted horn and ballooning cheeks. In the late 1950s, his band was the 1st Jazz band to be sent abroad by the US government. Gillespie is also known as the creator of Afro Cuba Jazz. #musician #jazzmusician #blackmusicians #blknzmedia #blnz365 #dizzy #blackcommunity #trumpet #jazzband #blackfirsts #blacktrumpetplayers #music #blackhistory #jazz #afrocuban #afrocubanjazz

Five days ago, this highly-ant

Five days ago, this highly-anticipated book written and illustrated by @vashtiharrison was released. I have to be honest, it blew me away. 🔸 I have used countless children’s books about African Americans for story times and read-alouds, but this one is on another level. Each page celebrates a bold woman in Black history; women in sports, the arts, activism, science, and technology. But each little vignette is so full of life, I now know so much about each woman just from one beautiful page. For example: I have loved Octavia Butler since reading Kindred, but I never knew she had dyslexia. I never knew that a woman named Alma Woodsey Thomas, at 80 years old, had the first-ever solo exhibition of an African American woman at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Those are just two. 🔸 I am amazed and humbled by the work that has gone into this book, a collation of so many amazing stories it would’ve taken years to research all of them myself. Not only did I learn of at least a dozen black women I had never heard of before, but I learned more about those I have. My daughter (and every little person I will gift this book to) will be so much better because of it. Thank you @vashtiharrison for sharing your passion with the world! . . . #weneeddiversebooks #littleleaders #boldwomen #blackhistory #blackhistoryiseveryday #humanrightsday #kidlit #kidlitpicks_diversity #blacklivesmatter #raisingreaders #readingismagic #lovepeople #humanrightsday #activists #scientists #writers #leaders #representationmatters

#OTD in 2005, Richard Pryor died. One of the most influential stand-up comedians of all time, Pryor used comedy to examine deeper truths about race in the United States and was not afraid to make fun of his own personal tragedies. Born in Illinois in 1940, he survived a harrowing childhood and time in an Army prison before moving to New York City in 1963. But it was in the 1970s that he became a star, including a five-time Grammy Award winner for his concerts and an Emmy Award for writing. Pryor also broke into Hollywood, co-writing "Blazing Saddles" and landing featured roles in a string of films, including "Lady Sings the Blues," "Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars and Motor Kings," and "Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life is Calling." In 1998, he was named the first recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. #blackhistory #africanamericanhistory

Protect Black Women!

@Regrann

Protect Black Women! @Regranned from @crackedrosecoloredglasses_us - #Repost @therealremyredd ・・・ Our Queens have done so much for us through out this fight. They have done work from behind the scenes humbly giving all the praise to their Kings. The have picked up guns and stood on the front lines. They have been raped countless time. Brought child after child into this world. They have had their body taken apart tested and researched. They have been called names and disrespected by the same boys they raised to men. Through out all that they are still standing strong. They are still fighting and have never given up. Imagine if we protected our Queens. Imagine if we loved and Respect them the way we want to have sex with them. Imagine if every man started respecting our women. Imagine if we changed the narrative of the sick Way the media and music showed our Queens. Imagine if we didn't have social media. Imagine the lies we would believe right now. #SayHerName #AnotherHashTag #ICantBreathe #BlackWomanMatter #KorrynGaines #SandyBland #KindraChapman #SarahLeeCircle #Kimberleekin #MiriamCarey #KathrynJohnston #TarikaWilson #RekiaBoyd #DarnishaHarris #ShellyFrey #TanishaAnderson #ShereeseFrancis #AiyanaStanleyJones #YvetteSmith #ShantelDavis #AlesiaThomas #AlbertaSpruill #NatashaMcKenna #MyaHall #MalissaWilliams #MeaganHockaday #therealremyredd #Blackmedia #blackhistory @power2thepositivepeople @revolutionaryxmen
