I made this #someecard several years ago in response to our CA state legislature's endless attempts to push the needle as far as they can to one particular extreme on one specific issue on which I disagree with both extremes. Now, with the accelerating slide into fascism on the Federal level, I spend less time obsessing on the Pollyanna-like voter attitudes driving the efforts of CA legislators to pass ineffective law after ineffective law regulating certain items of a defensive nature, but CA is not an island, and the same right-wing hate groups you see marching with their tiki torches and running over the people trying to exercise their 1st Amendment rights in peaceful protest of violent white supremacism exist here too, in numbers that might surprise the average voter. You can bet they're not going to relinquish their weapons just because the legislature says they should. THIS COMMENT IS NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT PRESCRIPTIVE. I merely wanted to point out that some things are not as simple as they seem, and that true balance on the issue of gun control hasn't really been a political priority for anyone for at least 40 years. I find NO false equivalency here; only one side (the GOP) is acquiescing and in many cases actively accelerating this slide into violent white supremacist, xenophobic fascism (with the assistance of a foreign power that benefits greatly at our expense).
