If the truth shall set you fre

If the truth shall set you free, what will a silent tongue do?? United we knee, divided we fall. The smallest coffins are the heaviest. Those that don't say nothing about oppression, partake in the process of oppression. We had clashing demonstrators openly display Nazi flags, protesters with Swastikas, National Socialist Movement flags (i.e., the largest Neo Nazi group in America), & Hitler saluters here in America which the world said nothing. Germany banned swastikas and Nazi emblems after World War II. Not one American said that was disrespecting the American flag. I guess that's Making America Great again!? A person takes a knee peacefully in America at a game and the world is outraged??!!🤔 Whoa!!! Obviously someone is catering to a select group of voters. Are we mislabeling "Fine People" and "Son of a Bitch?!" Hidden language terms like "People like yourself" and "those people," have been very devisive in dividing groups. These particular words are specifically used to, alienate and isolate individuals from another. America has the Greatest potential in the world to show its democracy, if the whistleblowers stood for truth and justice (for all). Patriotism for blacks have been centuries of slave ships, plantation labor, child rearing, whippings, floggings, buck breaking, noose hangings, slave child separations, proding, burning, manacled, shackled, slave leasing laws, Black Codes, segregated bathrooms, segregated schools, segregated busing, brutally beatened, pummelings, hosed down with fire hoses, being raped, choked on national tv, shot repeatedly on tv, & killed to build this great nation. Is that not disrespect?! There is no empathy with sympathy or blindness for forgiveness to see. America has a stain but desperately portrays a clean image to the world. The most racially and socially disenfranchised in America, are taking their moment of silence on a knee. #takeaknee #kneelinprotest #nflprotest #injustice #racialinjustice #racialinequality #racialmemorialday #blacklivesmatter #racialslavery #silentmajority #tormentedandkilled #slaveryremembranceday #innocentdeaths #oppression #theoppressed #racisim #racisimsucks #impeachthepeach #dumptrump #twittler

I support #Sankofa campaign International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition 2017 It is a mythical bird that flies forward while looking backward with an egg (symbolising the future) in its mouth. Sankofa teaches us that we must go back to our roots in order to move forward. #slaveryremembranceday #UNHCR #ambassadors4peace @slaveryremembrance

Yesterday (8/23) was @UNESCO

Yesterday (8/23) was @UNESCO’s “International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition.” This is vital. With @BostonFDN grant support, the Associates funded a multi-year project to catalog, conserve and digitize thousands of letters, posters, newspapers, and pamphlets in @BPLboston’s Special Collections relating to the local anti-slavery movement. This includes correspondence to/from abolitionists William Lloyd Garrison, Maria Weston Chapman and Deborah Weston, Lydia Maria Child, Amos Augustus Phelps, and Samuel May Jr.; records of the American, Massachusetts, New England, and Female Anti-Slavery Societies; and the libraries of William Lloyd Garrison, Theodore Parker, and Wendell Phillips. As a result, 12,197 items are now available online via @digitalcommonwealth.⠀ .⠀ The correspondence shown here was sent from Wilson Armistead in Leeds, England, to William Lloyd Garrison in Boston on November 11, 1853. The Leeds Anti-Slavery Association’s letterhead depicts an engraving of male and female slaves kneeling together in chains, surrounded by the caption: "Am I not a man and a brother. Am I not a woman and a sister."⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #BlackLivesMatter #RememberSlavery #HumanRights #LestWeForget #Armistead #WilliamLloydGarrison #1853 #AntiSlavery #AntislaveryMovement #Abolition #Abolitionists #SlaveTrade #Slaves #Emancipation #USHistory #BlackHistory #19thcentury #SavingHistory #HistoricLetter #Manuscript (Submission to @kansascity.archives’ #AwesomeLetterhead IG challenge) #engraving #BostonPublicLibrary #SpecialCollections #Archives #IGlibraries #LibrariesofInstagram #archivesofinstagram #SlaveryRemembranceDay #TimetoRemember

#Repost @crimesofbritain (@get

#Repost @crimesofbritain (@get_repost) ・・・ Today is "Slavery Remembrance Day". Of course, the line still pushed in Britain is that slavery was first abolished by them in the name of morality. The truth is Britain was not the first to "abolish" slavery nor did they do so because of their morals and ethics. They did so because of the resistance by enslaved Africans and because of the advances in industrialism meant machinery was more efficient. Britain compensated the slave owners not those enslaved. Following the so-called "abolition of slavery", Britain brought in the "apprenticeship system" whereby freed slaves would work unpaid for a number of years. Following that, Britain oversaw the mass kidnapping and luring of millions from India and China for their indentured worker programmes. The transatlantic slave trade financed industrialisation of Britain. From Bristol to London, to Liverpool to Glasgow, Britain is a nation built on slavery. #slaveryremembranceday

Repost from @whitneyplantation - "Any time while I was a slave, if one minute's freedom had been offered to me, and I had been told that I must die at the end of that minute, I would have taken it just to stand one minute on God's earth a free woman."
